Did you know?
What would you do if you saw a raccoon head pop through your pet door? They can open things that seem impossible. If there's food inside, they'll often keep experimenting until they figure it out.
STORY: A raccoon broke into a Virginia liquor store, destroyed 14 bottles, and apparently got drunk and passed out in the bathroom. That's what you call a trashed panda!
Raccoon Pop Sustainable Cable Knit Beanie
Raccoon Pop Sustainable Cable Knit Beanie
Raccoon Pop is a close-up of a raccoon caught mid-handful of popcorn, painted mostly in black and white so that guilty expression really pops. Maybe just one more handful.
Here it's a FLYN patch on our sustainable cable knit beanie: a cozy recycled polyester and acrylic knit with a cuff, about one recycled bottle per hat, traceable by QR code. Patched by hand in our Westbrook, Maine studio.

A cozy beanie with a little less impact. Each hat is made from 100% recycled polyester, with approximately one recycled plastic bottle used to make each beanie.
Available in a range of colors, this comfortable everyday hat lets you stay warm while giving new life to materials that might otherwise go to waste. Finished with a FLYN patch.

1 bottle was recycled for this hat.
How It's Made
It all starts with a painting.
Every FLYN hat begins with an original painting created by Flyn. The paintings are the heart of what we do - they are where every color, shape and idea begins. We have the artwork turned into patches, and then we sew each patch onto the hats ourselves. What starts as an original painting becomes something you can wear.
Materials
- 100% recycled polyester
Care
Most FLYN hats are best cleaned by hand.
Fill a sink or bowl with cool water and a small amount of mild detergent.
Gently scrub dirty areas with a soft cloth or tooth brush.
Rinse thoroughly with cool water. Gently reshape the hat and let it air dry. If you want it to form to your head let it dry on the noggin.
Keep it out of the dryer and away from high heat.
Never put your FLYN hat in the washing machine or dryer. A little extra care will keep your hat looking great for years to come.

Behind the Design
Raccoon Pop
A close-up of a raccoon caught in the middle of shoving popcorn into his mouth, staring straight at you like he's been caught in the act.
This is a 4-by-4-foot painting and is a little different from my other work. Instead of color, I kept the palette mostly black and white and let the expression, in contrast, do the work. I wanted to make something simple and immediate - something that would really pop.
