Bison

A portrait of an American bison.

I was asked to paint this as a commission, and as I worked on it, I realized it would make a great patch. I spent a lot of time out west over the past few years, and as someone from the East Coast, there is something pretty amazing about seeing bison out on the prairie. They're enormous, powerful animals, often just lying beside the road with tiny prairie dogs nearby.

Bison have such a long history on this land and their image carries so much weight. Sometimes a single animal, simply painted, can say a lot.
