Collection: The Usual Suspects: Wolf

I painted this wolf at the same time as The Usual Suspects: Fox. There's a funny personal connection between the two: the fox looks remarkably like my dog Primmy while the wolf looks just like my stepfather's dog, Pippa.

The painting is set up like a mugshot. The wolf is staring straight at you, completely unapologetic, with a chicken in his mouth. There's almost a quiet yeah, this is what I do expression about him. No excuses, no shame, no interest in being judged.

But honestly this painting was mostly an excuse to paint a wolf. They are such beautiful, powerful, magnificent creatures that I wanted to capture that presence. The humor came along with it.
