Collection: The Usual Suspects: Bear

This was the first painting in The Usual Suspects series.

I've always found bears incredibly beautiful. They have exquisite soulful eyes that can make them seem gentle and familiar. But they're also powerful wild animals, they can become extremely dangerous when they become accustomed to people.

That contradiction is what interests me. We can admire their beauty and still respect what they are. They're wild animals and they deserve to remain that way.

For me the series is really about learning to look at these animals differently, to appreciate them, to respect them, and, above all, honor the beast.
