Peanut Squirrel

The squirrel standing in front of his peanut candy stash holding a peanut in his paws and looking at you very proudly.

Squirrels have so much character. Every spring there always seems to be one that stands out - the one who presses his face against the window every morning, runs across your skylight to wake you up, finds a little hammock in your planter, or buries peanuts everywhere.

I have a little friend who does all of these things.

This guy is that squirrel. He's proud of his stash, and he wants you to know it.

I really loved painting this piece. The palette is more earthy than a lot of my other work. I enjoyed the simplicity of cross-hatching on the peanuts. It's a bit messy, a little bit rough, that's part of what I like about it.
